Latest Animal and Pet News - Laurie Kay Olson

I write on the latest animal news and most interesting animal stories. I come to PetsLady with a background in print journalism for the Colorado Daily newspaper. Some of my favorite assignments there included theraputic horseback riding and Canine Companions for Independence, so this is a natural fit. Living in Boulder, Colorado, where wildlife abounds, I am frequently dealing with deer, fox, skunks, squirrels, rabbits, snakes, birds, and mice. My cat, Naomi, helps round out the menagerie around me.

Charismatic Cat
Posted on September 15, 2019

A lot of people have given lip service to the idea of cats trying to take over the world. Here, for the first time, we have photographic evidence of a cat brazenly gathering followers, albeit alpacas.

We cats are experts at communication. Unfortunately our humans aren't very good at it. They make a lot of noise, but not much else. I've been sitting here forever waiting for Mom to bring me a Coke.

Space may be the final frontier but we aren't looking for any new life forms or civilizations. We're seeking nuts to steal, cats to tease, and pants legs to run up.

When you are a puppy it is your job to wear yourself out. When you are a puppy mom or dad it is your desire to wear them out during the day so that they don't bother you at night.

One of the best things about wildlife photography is that it can capture moments for us that we would never be able to see with the eye alone. Case in point is this beautiful silhouette of a hummingbird in flight.
