I write on the latest animal news and most interesting animal stories. I come to PetsLady with a background in print journalism for the Colorado Daily newspaper. Some of my favorite assignments there included theraputic horseback riding and Canine Companions for Independence, so this is a natural fit. Living in Boulder, Colorado, where wildlife abounds, I am frequently dealing with deer, fox, skunks, squirrels, rabbits, snakes, birds, and mice. My cat, Naomi, helps round out the menagerie around me.

Last week in West Virginia one neighborhood had a bit of a scare when people saw raccoons that they thought had rabies. The critters were glassy-eyed, staggering, and falling over. Folks were alarmed enough that they called the police.

Earlier this year a woman in Bixby, Oklahoma, got the shock of a lifetime when she was awakened in the wee hours of the morning when she heard a loud noise. At first she thought that it was her cat and small dog.

Last year eight newborn baby hedgehogs, or hoglets, were found orphaned when a terrible lawn mowing accident took their mother's life. They were still blind and struggling to survive.
