Have you ever heard of dog house envy?  Neither have I. But studying how natural solar design created the Canine Passive Solar Condominium, makes me jealous! All homes should be made according to passive solar energy principles.

Turn-about is fair play. There’s a correctional facility in Sydney, Australia that’s put a fresh new twist on rehabilitation. Switching the focus from prisoner to animals is a scheme developed by the John Morony Correctional Complex where inmates are responsible for the care of abandoned and/or injured creatures, both large and small.

While this planet has experienced the devastation of tens of thousands of hurricanes down through the ages, there’s virtually nothing man can do to prevent then from reoccurring. As a species, we can ascend the highest peaks, comb the depths of the ocean floor and catapult astronauts into space, but as long as we’ve been residents of terra-firma, we are no match for Mother Nature when she sends raging tempests our way.

The acts of rescuing, sheltering and adoption are noble causes for those who help in the protection of animals who need care to maintain their livelihoods. Charitable initiatives are growing up around the country, which are introducing new methods for volunteers to become actively involved. One such innovative service is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization — aptly named Pilots N Paws®.

Found abandoned, flea-bitten and in poor health in a shed in Warwickshire, England, Jasmine the Greyhound was a four-legged surrogate mother if ever there was one. Brought to an animal sanctuary to recover, she became an ambassador and thief of hearts to all who entered the Nuneaton and Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary.

"Here I come to save the day!" Those could have been the words of a golden retriever that instinctively dove into the water and saved a young fawn from drowning. (VIDEO)
