A young ginger cat who was swept out to sea by the tide is safely back on shore, thanks to the surprised crew of a charter boat who hauled him in.
This is NOT the catfish they were looking for, nor was it your stereotypical salty sea-dog! A young ginger tomcat was caught doing his best fish imitation by the crew of a charter fishing boat, and just in time: the fin-less feline was on its last sea-legs with little hope of returning to shore under his own steam.
“He was struggling to stay up,” explained Steve Crews, captain and owner of Still Flyin Charters. “We caught him, brought him in the boat and let him recover.” Still Flyin Charters operates out of Perdido Pass in Orange Beach, Alabama, and no doubt this is one “catch of the day” they'll be recalling for many days to come.
According to Captain Crews' illustrated post at his Facebook account, the “poor little guy was sucked out by the tide,” and was very lucky his boat happened to come alongside while on a fishing trip. The waterlogged furball managed to call out – or “meow out”, to be exact – to his rescuers before being neatly scooped up with a net.
Once ignominiously deposited on board, the grateful kitty meekly allowed itself to be dried off and wrapped in a towel until the boat docked. This particular fishing tale has a happy (and very believable) ending as well, since one of his rescuers has found him a forever home – presumably, one far from the fickle sea. (via FOX6 Milwaukee)
