Gumby Plush and Gumby Rubber Dog Toys
Your dog may not get wistful like you do when he gets a Multipet Gumby toy. Gumby is a sweet memory for you, but a trophy toy for your dog.
These 9-inch floppy toys are classic 'trophy toys.' I call them that because dogs tend to carry them around like they are prey, much like wild dogs carry their victims around before hiding them in the forest, lying close by until their dinner. Perhaps for that reason the Gumby toys tend to be a dog's 'keeper,' not immediately destroyed (even though they can be!).
Licensed by Multipet, the Gumby Plush Toy contains a squeaker, which some say sounds like the voice of Gumby in one of his cartoons. The Gumby Rubber Dog Toy is not stuffed and has no squeaker; it is all rubber. Both toys are floppy.
The Gumby Plush is the more popular of the two Gumby versions and is very highly rated on Amazon. It is moderately stuffed with plush fabric similar to that of Gumby's exterior. It is about 9 inches high. It can be handwashed and line-dried, although one customer reported successfully machine washing the Gumby Plush in a lingerie bag.
The Gumby Rubber Toy is solid, flexible rubber. Though less popular than the Gumby Plush Toy, it has almost 80 percent average or above average customer ratings. It is not difficult to tear up the toy if your dog is determined, but most dogs are pretty chill with it... if they can tolerate the smell. A strong odor coming from the Rubber Toy is reported by several pet parents, and this may not be attractive to your dog either.
If you've never heard of or seen Gumby, he is the creation of Art Clokey, a clay animation artist who brought his art to life in 1953 with the character Gumby. Gumby's character has been recreated hundreds of times in full-length movies and TV programs since 1953 until the early 2000's. If you would like to see some Gumby videos, check them out here. They are classics!
That's the buzz for today!
