You don't have to be a Pet Shop Boy (or Girl) to know the main sign of a good pet shop is er, its main sign.

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

1) Check It & See

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

You don't have to be a “Foreigner” to love this nifty pet shop in Essex, UK but if you are, we're guessing you (and your little lizard, too) can do more than dance. That said, business must've been booming back in the fall of '13 as the shop had concluded a major sign update by the fall of 2014. 2) Share & Share Alike

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

We posted an in-depth look at Donna's Aquatic Pet Shop and/or Lee's Seafood Co., Inc in early 2019 and our collective heads are still spinning. While it's not unusual for two different shops to share the same building – one on the ground floor and the other upstairs – it's a whole 'nother, wholly disturbing story when both shops share the same phone number. Yikes! (pet shop image via Fuzzy Gerdes)

3) Switch & Bait

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

Pets “R” Us? We think not... if “U” were a pet, would your store sell fishing licenses, hunting licenses and – horror of horrors - “live bait”? Seriously, isn't live bait just seafood under another name and intended for non-human “customers”? You can “quote” us on that. 4) Cleanup In Aisle 4...

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

Exploding cat, exploding cat, what have they been feeding you? We're guessing Pop Rocks and Pepsi – don't try that at home, kids! In any case, you can get one of these er, Tactical Kittens over at Sadie's (or “Sadist's”) Pet Shop. (pet shop image via purplejavatroll)

5) World's Beakest Sign

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

So you want a pet shop sign so big it covers every inch of the store's exterior? Don't say it can't be done 'cuz “a parrot-ly” Elia's Pet Shop in Florence, CA did exactly that. Wow, if walls could talk... these would be wanting a cracker in 12-part harmony. (pet shop image via Laurie Avocado)

6) What's Sop?

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

Oddly enough, the unusual “alternative” spelling displayed on this charmingly hand-made sign from southeastern Europe isn't the weirdest thing about it. That would be the bizarre two-headed parrot perched above the waves. Hmm, wonder how much they charge for one of those? (pet shop image via a.hodus)

7) Budapets

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

These pets have seen some stuff... especially the cat on the left sporting a major-league thousand-yard stare. Makes you wonder if devilish dentist's niece Darla from “Finding Nemo” was more fact than fiction. (pet shop image via GloomyCorp)

8) One Two Thee

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

If Megan Thee Stallion decided to open a pet shop, this would be it... sorry, no ponies. Trouble is, the lineup to get in would be so long you couldn't get in the door. Also, there doesn't appear to BE a door. Brilliant! (pet shop image via duncan c)

9) Creatures Featured

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

Who owns this pet shop, the Addams Family? Do they sell rats and bats there? It's not enough the word “Groom” rhymes with “gloom” and “doom”, they've chosen to use a Gothic font in midnight black. This is a rare case where Comic Sans would be an upgrade. (pet shop image via Anthony Easton)

10) Bitch Please

Awesome International Pet Shop Signs

We've saved the best for last... this pet shop sign not only rocks on multiple levels, it's the kind of societal sighting we all love to share on social media. Alas, the suburban Seattle shop couldn't succeed at its primary purpose, closing its doors (and dismantling its awesome signage) sometime in 2012. (pet shop image via Bryan Ochalla)
