Truly original pet toys are few and far between, but I was intrigued by the novelty of the Pet Zone Bottle Bird Dog Toy, so I decided to check it out myself along with four pals of the canine variety.
The Pet Zone Bottle Bird Dog Toy is made of quality recycled materials: a soft but sturdy suede leather 'duck head,' and a woven cotton rope duck body tightly surrounding an already-recycled water bottle. The whole toy measures 13 x 2.75 x 2.75 inches and weighs 8.64 ounces.
Truthfully, it was the water bottle that got my attention as I once owned a dog who went crazy every time he saw one, large or small. There was nothing he enjoyed better than the sound of that crunch.
But dogs can really hurt their gums chewing a water bottle that can break in sharp edges as those canines crunch away, so I was delighted to see that Pet Zone had left in the crunch but removed the danger. And in the meantime, dogs could dreamily gnaw the rope, satisfying their need to chew while they unwittingly clean their teeth and stimulate their gums.
Upon examination, I could tell that the woven cotton rope was very sturdy, but that, nevertheless, the recycled water bottle tucked inside could be crunched by a pair of strong determined dog jaws. And Welsh Terriers Brio and Flynn, below, both proved that point.

The duo raced each other to the Bottle Bird Toy and then tugged and chewed on it while they marched it back in tandem; I kept throwing it and they kept fetching until I got tired!

On to my next pair of testers, Trooper and Kelly. They sniffed the toy curiously and wagged their tails as I lowered it to their levels. Good sign.
But when I threw the Bottle Bird, Trooper, the Rat Terrier, let his step-sister go for it. Cowed by her aggressiveness, poor Trooper just stood on the sidelines while 'princess Kelly' grabbed the Bottle Bird and ran back to me to throw it again. She held it in her little jaws, but did not crunch.

A neat feature of the toy is that it can comfortably be held in the mouths of small, medium, and large dogs because of its graduated sizing. Kelly clearly feels comfortable holding her Bottle Bird Toy at the neck, as you see below.

(Next time I'll let Trooper come over by himself so he can freely play with the Bird Toy. I bet he'll love it. If I were a dog, I would love it!)
As a dog owner, I can appreciate the toy's tight construction, quality recyclable materials, tossable comfort, and adorable looks. For all its great features, the Pet Zone Bottle Bird Dog Toy is also quite modestly priced! Look for it here!
(Thank you to the human parents of our product testers for allowing them to test the Pet Zone Bottle Bird Toy.)
That's the buzz for today!
