Many areas require people to wear life vests when engaging in water
sports. While dogs aren't covered under this rule, it isn't a bad idea
to make sure that your pooch pals are equally well-equipped for their
own safety. Just because they can dog paddle doesn't mean that they are
expert swimmers or that they won't get overly tired if they have to
tread water for awhile. To this end Ruffwear has come up with the K-9
Dogs like Winston (a friend of my niece's) are stylin' when they are out on the water for a day in the sun with their favorite humans. Here Winston is enjoying a boat trip on Puget Sound near his home city of Seattle. Such safety gear shows that he is really one of the family.
The coat achieves floatation though the use of multiple closed-cell foam layers rather than one thick layer. This allows the shape to be sculpted for the maximum comfort for the dog and efficiency of the device. The design helps promote movement and allows for the dog's natural horizontal swimming movement. A belly panel adds additional floatation support from beneath. A telescoping collar helps make sure that the jacket stays in place.
