Gentle Rise Dog Bed Ramp

Gentle Rise Dog Bed Ramp

Most pet ramps are made for young, healthy dogs - ones that have strong, healthy backs, good balance, tread on their paws, and cataract-free eyesight. Finally, there are a few pet product designers who understand the real physical limitations of older and disabled dogs. These Gentle Rise Dog Ramps exhibit that understanding.

These limitations hit home to me now, as my senior dog has a weak back and weak back legs. His vision is blurred and, instead of walking down the few stairs to the yard, he takes them in a jump and lands on his belly because he can't judge distance. He tries to jump on my bed and inevitably gets hurt in the process by falling backwards. And he slips and slides on bare floorsDogs also acquire memory difficulties as they age, which can affect their movements.

Dogs get disabilities. Sometimes they are born with them, other times they are acquired either by accident or by the aging process. As dog owners, we should prepare for them because they are as inevitable as our own.

Gentle Rise Dog Bed Ramp

My favorite new dog ramp is made to reach today's taller beds and it has a railing! (I always wondered why dog ramps didn't have sides to keep dogs from falling off.)

It's called the Gentle Rise Dog Bed Ramp, and it has all the features that I would look for if my dog was elderly, infirm, handicapped, or if she was a small dog who could not jump up or off my bed...

... and this includes

  • a long smooth slope which does not place demands on a dog's back,
  • a non-slip gripping surface so your dog won't slip,
  • a side railing to prevent your dog from falling off,
  • and a sturdy frame that holds more than 120 pounds, which you can place at one side of your bed or at the bottom.

Remember too, that the Ramp is great for small dogs, whose only handicap may be that they have short legs that can't reach your bed.

You may have to train your dogs to use the Gentle Rise, but my experience is that dogs tend to keep their sense of smell as they lose acuity of other faculties, so treats always remain in the training process. Dog Quality, the company that designed the Gentle Rise Dog Bed Ramp, has a video that includes how to train your dog to use the ramp.

But the video you will need most is the one on how to put the ramp together! (Included with the ramp are print instructions as well.)

Dog Quality also makes the Gentle Rise Dog Couch Ramp, several inches shorter in height and length so it can snuggle right up to your couch!

The Gental Riser Dog Ramps to your bed and couch will take up more room in your living spaces than other dog ramps on the market, but they really do meet a dog's special needs to climb and to get down from your furniture. You can paint them to match your decor, maybe put a few throw pillows on the corner of the top landing.... Your dogs are worth it!

That's the buzz for today!
