Who was that masked mammal, could it be Robbery Raccoon? The lone stranger caught roaming around a Knoxville mobile phone store wasn't exactly answering nature's call, though store staff arriving the next morning would be wise to watch where they step.
This was not the technology-loving masked robber anyone was expecting – for one thing, he or she was shorter than the average crook. Police officers in Knoxville, Tennessee, were no doubt relieved to learn the true, er, “nature” of whomever set off the burglar alarm at Boost Mobile at around 3:30am on Monday, January 15th of 2018.
Investigation revealed that the curious critter had entered the store through the roof, dropping through the shop's acoustic-tiled ceiling and then wandering around the premises. In due course, the unauthorized shopper set off the store alarm's motion detector, automatically alerting the nearest police station and the store owner to a possible break-in.
Armed with only a stick and some snacks, the store owner was successfully able to lure the raccoon to the front of the store. It then escaped through the opened entrance-way.
“The on-scene Sgt could not confirm or deny the suspect successfully escaped with an iPhone X,” commented a spokesperson at the Knoxville PD's Twitter page. They should have gone through its pockets on its way out, duh. Presumably detectives are monitoring the raccoon's Twitter feed for status updates.
