There are all sorts of interactive pet toys these days - wooden puzzles, snuffle mats, bottle toys and others.... Bob-A-Lot is a unique puzzle that provides a variety of stimulation and rewards to your dog.

Available in small and large sizes, this Starmark product is a hit with all size dogs. The Bob-A-Lot is bottom-weighted, allowing it to return to its upright position each time your dog pushes it. Dogs love to push it down and have it pop back up, especially because it distributes their dinner or treats.

The Bob-A-Lot is made of hard plastic; it is not a chew toy. It's objective is not to exercise your dog's teeth or gums, it is to challenge her to get the food out of it until all the food is gone. That's quite an effort!

Although you can put treats in the Bob-A-Lot, it is actually a great feeder for your pet if he eats kibble. The small Bob-A-Lot holds about one cup of kibble and the large holds up to three cups. If your dog whoofs down his food, the Bob-A-Lot is a way to slow him down and give him an entertaining experience while he's eating.

Below is the top of the Bob-A-Lot, where you insert food or treats. Although there is an adjustable opening on the bottom (see above image), the top area can be adjusted to dispense the food as well, so your dog can obtain food/treats from the top and bottom, or from the bottom alone.

To help your dog adjust to getting her treats/food from the Bob-A-Lot, you should start by leaving the openings as wide as possible, so she easily learns what this bobber is for.  Later, you can slowly reduce the size of the openings to give her more of a challenge. One dog owner used peanut butter on the treats to make the treats more slippery and, therefore, harder to remove. By the way, there is a video on how to clean your Bob-A-Lot here.

Again, the Bob-A-Lot is made of hard plastic. Dogs like the sound of the toy hitting the floor, but test the toy out on hard-wood floors and near wood furnture. Especially the large Bob-A-Lot might scratch them, in which case you'll have to restrict the Bob-A-Lot to carpeted or tile floors.

That's the buzz for today!
