The story of Cecil the Lion is now ubiquitous. His tragic ending at the hands of a nihilistic American hunter has been rebuked as pure savagery. Much has been written and captured on video. This past week, Jericho, Cecil’s brother also received global attention when it was erroneously reported that he too was killed by poachers.

There is nothing quite as shocking as finding a python hanging out somewhere in your home. On Tuesday Jarred Smith, 22, in Australia was fixing himself some lunch when he discovered a python had stuffed itself into his box of corn flakes. It should come as no surprise to anyone that he dropped his noontime vittles and made a run for it. The snake was more than six feet long and that is enough to make most of us burn some shoe leather.

There is no doubt that 81-year-old Patricia Delaney loves animals of all kinds. She loves all animals from the top of the food chain on down. She is especially into horses, but she can't ride anymore thanks to her Parkinson's Disease. Being confined in a nursing home has severely limited her chances of getting to interact with animals -- until her social worker came up with the idea of bringing a zoo to her.
