While it may not be all that common, there are businesses that adopt cats. What is far more uncommon is when the business "hires" said cat to keep some bad-tempered people from complaining about the presence of a sweet little blue-eyed Siamese kitten. The Order of Attorneys of Brazil (the equivalent of the American Bar Association) responded to complaints by making the puss an official employee.
