Fresh running water does have great appeal, even to pets. Take cats,
for example: it's the rare one who will even drink from a bowl of
"stagnant" water. And when you think about it, cats have it right...
who wants to drink out of a bowl or a glass of water that's been
sitting there for half a day or so? Perhaps that's why the latest
trend in pet drinking is not the 'pet bowl,' it's the 'pet fountain,'
where water flows constantly, or on demand.
Voluntary euthanasia is legal in Japan and surveys have shown that the
majority of Japanese people support it, especially in terminal cases.
But the focus and originality of assistive treatments and therapy
available for aged cats and dogs in Japan suggest that Japanese pet
owners do not readily accept euthanasia for their furry family members.
There are two hot trends in dog training today that are both called Dog Listening. But one has to do with humans who
listen to dogs and the other is about dogs who listen to humans.
According to each of these dogmas, training is required.
The State of Pet Health 2011 Report has just been released by Banfield Pet Hospitals,
compiled from medical data on 2.1 million dogs and 450,000 cats. The
report lists the trends in dog and cat health, or more appropriate,
disease, observed within the last five years. Should we be surprised
that among other trends, obesity and diabetes is rising in our precious
"if you build it" dogs will come. And if you don't just happen to have a
fire hydrant in your yard, you need not build one; you can buy a
somewhat smaller version of the old-fashioned model just so your dog
will go and pee on it.
