So welcome was the Akita puppy named Yume (Dream), a gift to
President Vladimir Putin this past June, a sign of thanks and friendship
from Governor Norihisa Satake of the Japanese Prefecture of Akita, that
Putin sent the Governor a Siberian Cat, Russia's indigenous and its national cat, a month later. Putin has his Akita, but where is the Siberian Cat?

An enormous crowd of spectators, 30,000, more or less, flooded the streets of St. Petersburg, Russia on August 17 to enjoy the International Art-Forum GraFFFest 2012, a celebration of the synthesis of street and digital art.  'Cats In The City,'
viral video entries made within the past five years, had its debut this
year and it was a huge success.  Here are the winning cat videos...

Just two weeks after the big video cat shindig in St. Petersburg, Russia, the U.S. hosted its own Cat Video Film Festival at the Walker Art Center
in Minneapolis on August 30, 2012.  An estimated 10,000 people attended
the viewing, but the only cats to be seen were on the big screen.

A unique-looking cat
photo quickly became a viral internet sensation this week.  Due to her very unusual appearance, viewers of
the photo quickly suspected the picture was edited in Photoshop.  However, 
an appearance on the NBC morning news show Today showed her unusual
features to be natural and real.

Your Pet Can Jet
' pass for flights between almost all JetBlue cities
from September 7 through December 31, 2012... and there are no blackout
dates, so your dog or cat can even fly during the holidays!  There are
some restrictions, however...

Mapleton Mobile Home Park in Boulder, Colorado, is normally a quiet and peaceful place, but these days the residents are more than a little unsettled. Monday night two young mountain lions had made their way from the foothills more than a mile into the city. One of the cats escaped the Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers hunting the pair and is still on the loose.
