Humans have been fascinated by the stars since the dawn of man -- so much so that they connected those celestial points of light with earthly qualities. From there they connected everyone of us to the stars through the zodiac. Many different cultures created their own astrology. One that seems to intrigue us the most is the Chinese. One collection of sculptures now on display in Denver explores these animal symbols with an added historical perspective.

This year has been one of the worst wildfire seasons ever. This problem is especially acute in the Western states. The best way to fight these fires is to prevent them from happening in the first place. That means starving the fires of fuel. There is no real high-tech option here. So a number of states are going totally low-tech and hiring herds of goats to eat away excess plant life.

M*A*S*H is one of the most popular and iconic television shows ever produced. Even though it is about humans dealing with the realities of war near the front lines many animals made their way into the series. From Radar's menagerie to Colonel Potter's horse to a dog injured in combat these animals added an extra measure of humanity to the characters and to the show.

When ten year-old Abigail Bruce got a goat she name Speedy for her birthday,  her father, Nick, wasn't too thrilled. Speedy soon won his heart, however, when he alerted the family to a fire that had started and  was rapidly spreading throughout their Arkansas home.

Dateline: Clifton, Colorado. Mesa County Sheriffs Deputies were called to a home in the small town on the Western Slope of the Rockies last Thursday. A woman there claimed that she was being held hostage and was unable to leave her home. The culprit in this drama? A goat that the woman described as being "mean." The officers responded quickly (the next day) to investigate the case.

The goal is 12,000 species. The ’Photo Ark’ navigator and animal photographer is Joel Sartore. The mission is to document every captive animal species in the world using studio lighting and black-and-white backgrounds. So far, he’s traveled to 40 countries and has accomplished more than half of his target.
