How do you approach a shark that is the size of a semi-truck? Very
carefully. At least whale sharks eat plankton and such--not humans.
And that's a good thing for this big guy, because he needs some help.
Again, whale sharks are not known to be violent--but they are exceptionally large. And anything painful can rub a wild animal the wrong way. Would I attempt what these people do? Maybe. But I would be quite terrified. I suspect I'd have to change my wetsuit after the rescue was over...
