Passengers on an Australian plane heading from the northeastern city of Carins to Papua New Guinea were shocked to see a ten foot long python dangling to the wing of their plane.
The scrub python is Australia’s largest snake. An adult scrub python can stretch over 16 feet long and the species’ diet includes birds, rats and other small animals. This mild-tempered snake prefers to hide away in small, enclosed spaces in the wild to ambush prey, which probably led to this individual snake stowing away along the plane’s wing.
While the strong python managed to hold on to the plane for the entire two-hour plane ride, it did not survive its trip.
