Fugly Friday: Wrinkle-Faced Bats
The wrinkle-faced bat is seriously fugly, but only eats fruit. It is believed that the unusually shaped skull that adds to its fugliness is a design that allows it to eat a wider diversity of fruit than other bats. Though its diet is primarily fruit, old wrinkle-face is not a fruit bat.
You don't need to worry about this bat haunting your nights in North America. The wrinkle-faced bat is at home in Central America and some of the northern areas of South America. They also have storage pouches in their mouths to allow them to store extra food.
