Fugly Friday: Scorpion Fish
It is mind-boggling how much fugly there is in the depths of our oceans. That is just one of the things that make the ocean such an interesting place to explore. Some species, like the scorpion fish are dangerous as well as fugly.
The scorpion fish has spines covered with venomous mucus. Because of this adornment the fish have few natural predators. They hang out along coral reefs feeding on crustaceans and small fish that happen by.
The main commercial use of scorpion fish for humans is for aquariums. People enjoy their unusual appearance and bright colors.
