My all-time favorite videogame star hosted a party with the gorillas and visitors at the LA Zoo for his latest release: Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. I’m sure it was a swinging time for everyone!
Donkey Kong and his pals at Nintendo partnered with the LA Zoo from May 24th through the 27th to host a release party for the Nintendo 3DS exclusive game Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, which launched on the 24th.
Zoo visitors were treated to demo stations of the new Donkey Kong Country game, as well as Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move, coupons for $5 off DKCR3D at GameStop and an excellent photo opportunity with Donkey Kong himself. The local gorillas had the best treat of them all; a bunch of cardboard barrels filled with popcorn and other fun treats! Needless to say, but they primates went ape for the toy barrels and tasty snacks.
The promotion gave the LA Zoo an excellent opportunity to teach its patrons about the endangered gorillas, which included a list of differences and similarities between Donkey Kong and the zoo’s resident gorillas. For example, DK can swim underwater with ease, while real gorillas stay out of the water. and how average gorillas construct leafy nests to sleep in at night, while our hero sleeps in a lavish tree house.
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D stars Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong as they recover DK’s stolen banana hoard from the vile Tik Tak Tribe of living wooden Tiki creatures. The game is an expanded remake of Donkey Kong Country Returns, developed for the Nintendo Wii by Retro Studios, which takes full advantage of the Nintendo 3DS’ innovative 3D technology.
