We all think our pets are the cutest creatures on the face of the planet — all right, some of know they’re not, but we still think they’re cute. If you believe you’ve got a veritable cover girl or guy on your hands with the face of an angel, you can test their star power between now and June 30, 2017, by entering them in the Pet Supermarket Calendar Casting Call Contest. If your pet is one of the lucky winners they could turn out to be Miss May of 2018 or Mr. July of 2018.
A lot of pet lovers already own calendars with adorable animals gracing the pages, whether domesticated or in the wild. This would be your chance to actually share your pet’s or pets’ cute-as-a-button mug/mugs with the rest of the world. How cool would it be to show up that tiresome bore you always run into at the groomer’s or the dog park that thinks their Pom is more handsome or cuter than yours? I’ll answer that: as childish as it is, pretty darn cool!
Pet Casting Calls
So, what do you have to do to enter? Go to Pet Supermarket’s Facebook page and click on the link for the calendar casting call and upload a picture. That’s pretty much it. Ok. There are some rules that apply, like only one picture per pet entered, pictures featuring multiple pets are going to be considered an entry for each pet depicted, you have to be the pet parent or have the consent of the pet parent of the animal entered in order to enter, and horizontal pictures over 3,000 pixels wide are preferred.
There don’t appear to be any catches to this contest, but there are only a limited number of states where residents can hail from that are eligible to register — which is actually kind of weird, but here’s a list of them: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. Not sure why it’s limited to just 10 states, but if you live in any of them and you’re at least 18, you can enter.
Best in Show
I’m not sure about the rest of you, but if you’ve ever seen the absolutely hysterical 2000 mockumentary Best in Show, you’ve probably already flashed on the scene at the end of the movie where they give viewers a glimpse of what the owner/handlers and their dogs are up to a year later. It’s a follow-up of sorts, but Michael Mckeen’s character and his partner are having a calendar made featuring their shih tzus. If you’ve never seen it, there’s a clip below. Enjoy — and good luck with the contest!
