One of the special new products at the 2020 Global Pet Expo was the new Walkin' Scooter for dogs and cats with paralyized back limbs. It is made by Walkin' Pets, a company that specializes in assistive devices for handicapped pets.
The Walkin' Scooter is actually a brilliant extension of an earlier creation by Walkin' Pets, the Walkin' Drag Bag (shown below), which contains a pet's back legs but, propelled by your dogs front legs, drags them on the floor. Though the bag does protect his skin somewhat, depending on how mobile your pet is, the Walkin' Scooter might do a better job of it. Also, the Scooter raises the back end of your pet so it is more in alignment with the front of your pet's body.
In the Walkin' Scooter, the pet's mid-tummy and hind legs slide into the lower part of the 'drag bag,' but the Walkin' Scooter bag doesn't drag. It attaches to a sturdy mobile unit that effortlessly follows your pet wherever she goes!
These pets sure look happy being mobile in their Walkin' Scooters!
The Walkin' Scooter is made to be used indoors or outdoors on a paved surface. If your pet is incontinent, you can use a diaper inside the harness.
Sized for small to medium pets, Walkin' Pets has made the Walkin' Scooter a more natural alternative to a dog wheelchair.
If you know pet parents with a dog that might need the Walkin' Scooter, please share this article with them.
That's the buzz for today!
