SleepypodTM has been at the forefront of car safety beds and safety harnesses for pets since it first started crash testing its products in 2014. Safety designs added and upgraded, in 2017 Sleepypod is still one of the safest ways for small pets to travel. But the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed has other qualities that small pet owners, particularly cat owners, should consider.
Here are just some of its qualities....
Sleepypod as a pet bed
While puppies and small dogs might like to snuggle up in a Sleepypod (and maybe you can teach them to use the Sleepypod regularly as a bed), cats are instinctively drawn to small round beds, even those that seem too small for them.

... and you'll have a difficult time removing your cat from it at all.
Of course, in summer, you will want to cool the Sleepypod for your pet by inserting Air Mesh bedding when the external temperature is warm.
Sleepypod as a carrier
Now, what if you want to take your cat on a car trip, say for a weekend getaway? Cats don't really take to cars all that well, and less to crates. You can't drive with them loose in the car; even if it were legal, it would be extremely dangerous to drive while your cat is wrapped around your feet or perched halfway between your chest and your steering wheel. Seat belts don't work for cats, so they have to be crated somehow.
But what if a bed was her crate? Most crates are uncomfortable and cats hate discomfort. Beds are comfortable, so that's the first thing Sleepypod has over most other carriers - comfort. And, if Sleepypod is your cat's, or dog's, regular bed, it also has familiarity - just as important to cats as comfort.
Assuming your dog or cat is already familiar with the Sleepypod, it will not be a surprise to him when he is placed in the pod, and if he feels any apprehension, it will not be as great as it would be if he were placed in a crate that is only used to take him to the vet. As you've no doubt experienced, vet apprehension is very disturbing to cats and dogs; wouldn't your pet be somewhat more relaxed in his own bed?
Sleepypod as a car seat
After comfort and familiarity, the Sleepypod offers safety to your pets. Its sturdy mesh lid, which easily zips around the base of the pod, keeps your pet safely inside. She can't bump her head on metal bars when you make a sharp turn, because there are no metal bars. Everything in the Sleepypod is soft or cushioned.
Once in the car, the Sleepypod provides three areas to secure the Speepypod with the car's seat belts and, included with the Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed is the company's PPRS Lock, a fourth level of security. The carrier with the lock system achieved a 5-star rating, the top rating, when tested by the Center for Pet Safety.
The Sleepypod Mobile Pet Bed comes in Mini (for pets up to 7 pounds) and Medium (for pets up to 15 pounds). The Mini size is approved for under-the-seat airplane travel; the Medium size has not been approved. All of its components can be vacuumed, washed, or easily wiped to keep the Sleepypod clean.
That's the buzz for today!
