Little Andrew, a Russian Blue cat in declining health, appears to hold his owners' hands with his paw as they drove him to the vet for the very last time.
A single evocative photo of Little Andrew posted to Reddit by the cat's owner, “abernha3”, has gone viral online proving a deep well of sympathy and compassion still exists in this increasingly troubled world. The photo, posted on August 12th of 2016, has racked up almost 4,700 points and elicited over 300 comments at the popular website's Cats sub-reddit, Mourning/Loss section. he caption posted along with the photo reads: “He held our hands on his last trip to the vet. Little Andrew was much stronger than his mom and I.”
“Little Andrew was my junior,” states the late pet's owner in his accompanying explanatory comment at Reddit. “He was 15 and a half and loved everyone, but just got old and sick over the last year. He purred everyday of his life and when he lost that, I knew it was time. Always sad to lose a friend. Sorry for everybody else's losses as well.”
Little Andrew's last ride has touched this writer, as we lost Jean Grey, our neighborhood Brazilian Shorthair cat (above) in September of 2015. We wish peace to all those who have lost good friends like Little Andrew and Jean Grey, who gave so much love to those who loved them.
