This is a white-faced ibis. It is a relative of the ibis that the Egyptians believed to be sacred. They represented their god Thoth with the head of an ibis.
This ibis is strictly American. It inhabits much of North America and a large piece of South America. The white-faced ibis is the mascot of the University of Miami. and is also used as the symbol for the Harvard Lampoon. This lovely photo was taken by Woody Green.
