When you look at this sweet little calf it is hard to imagine that it is going to grow up into a big hairy beast like Mom there -- or an even bigger and hairier beast like his daddy.
This beautiful photo was taken by my old classmate Katy Buell. We both grew up in a valley where the American Bison, or buffalo, once roamed wild. The University of Colorado Buffaloes still roam around here.
