Tibor Kercz, "Help", Winner 2017 Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

It's time for the 4th annual Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. The contest is about funny wildlife photos; the purpose of the contest is about wildlife conservation. The animal photos make you laugh and, hopefully, you may end up caring more about saving the wonderful worlds they live in and keeping them free from the destructive nature of humans. If these photos don't make you fall in love with these truly beautiful creatures of the wild....

"Remember, we are all about conservation," write Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam, founders of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. "We want you to take up our banner of wildlife conservation, bang the drum, beat the cymbal and make some noise, we need to spread the word – wildlife, as we know it, is in danger, all over the world and we need to do something to help save it. You can start by going and having a look at what the Born Free Foundation are doing at www.bornfree.org.uk."

Monique Jöris, "Headless Penguins," 2017 Finalist, Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards

Last year's competition received 3500 entries from 86 countries - more than twice the number of entries than two years before. When the finalists were posted on the Comedy Wildlife website, I guarantee lots of tears from laughter appeared on computer keyboards throughout the world. You can view the 2017 finalists here.

Anyone can enter up to 6 photographs and two videos in any of six categories. It's easy! You don't have to be a professional photographer. You don't have to go to Africa or Australia to find wildlife doing funny things. You can go to your own city parks, or zoos, or your backyards. Your subjects may not be captive wildlife or pets (there's another competition for funny pet photos later in the year).

Just go out with your camera, observe, snap, and go back to observing and snapping. You'll enjoy it. I promise.
