“No longer a camera, more like a pet?” The Necono Digital Cat Camera from Japan's Superheadz, designed by Swedish ceramic artist Lisa Larson, combines the cute factor of a striped, black or white kitten with the demands of the everyday cat-lovin' casual photographer. The camera measures 10cm by 3cm (4 by 1.2 inches) and if you look closely you'll see a camera lens in one eye, a self-timer LED sensor in the other eye, and a microphone in the minimalist mouth.
The shutter and mode functions are operated via several buttons mounted on top of the camera body while underneath you'll find buttons for Power and Reset, a mounting for a carrying strap, and a covered slot that conceals a USB port and the microSD card.
When you're ready to upload your photos, just connect the camera to a PC or laptop computer with a standard USB cable. Strictly plug & play, no software required. The Necono Digital Cat Camera comes in your choice of Striped Cat, Lucky Black or Wonderful White. Magnets on each foot allow for unattended photography anywhere there's metal upon which to rest the camera.
In order to get the best out of your Necono Digital Cat Camera, Superheadz and Lisa Larson have collaborated on several complementary accessories including a matching soft camera bag and a “monitor ground.” The latter may look like a litter box, especially when the camera body is in place, but it features a view screen and generally makes the camera even easier to use.
Shop around for the best price and keep an eye peeled for package deals: Amazon.com offers the camera alone for $129.95 but for $249.90 you get a box set that includes the camera, the monitor ground and the matching soft carrying bag. Meow! (via Trendhunter and Geekalerts)
