These magnet-backed miniature mounted big game trophy heads from Japan's Takara Tomy A.R.T.S may not be politically correct but they do add a certain rustic appeal to one's refrigerator door... if one happens to be Ted Nugent.
Major props to Tokyo explorer extraordinaire Jonelle Patrick for scouting out this find: a so-called “Taxidermy Vending Machine” that dispenses a Hunting Selection Trophy to anyone depositing 300 yen (about $3). Considering what an African safari costs these days we're talking Bargain, baby, and unlike modern photo safaris you at least get a head to take home with you!
Takara Tomy A.R.T.S has issued several series of Hunting Selection Trophies, including some that sport metallic gold and silver or even neon color finishes. An electric blue bison? Shut up and take my money!
The trophy heads are made from plastic and require some assembly – with most it's just a matter of snapping the horns onto the head. As a bonus, each Hunting Selection Trophy comes with an integral plaque and a sticker bearing the species of each exotic beast. A burnished silver Bighorn Sheep named “Philosophy”... now that's something you don't see every day. (via RubyWinkle)
