What's new in bird feeding this Fall? "Garden benches" made especially for outdoor birds and available at the most creative store for outdoor birds, Duncraft.
Turn your volume up so you can hear the birds' happy chatter!
Every season, I delight at Duncraft's new bird feeders, many with versatile designs that you need vary just by the feed to attract specific birds. This Fall it's "the bench feeder" that caught my eye; Duncraft even has two bench feeders that are intended for squirrels (see below)!
Attract the birds you love with this lovely Garden Bench Bird Feeder that holds two 5-ounce clear plastic cups that you can fill with an assortment of foods your backyard birds love. The bench is made of durable recycled white plastic and it hangs from a brass-plated rod and eye hook. The Bench and feeding cups are very easy to clean, a factor that's always welcome at my house. The Garden Bench measures 9.75 x 7 inches and is 8.5 inches tall overall.
The Snacks 'N' Treats Platform Swing is what you can call a "deep bench," deep with all the seeds, dried worms, corn, nuts, or juicy fruit you want to include to attract the birds you love. You can separate the food, as this bench has two compartments. The all metal bench hangs with cable from a matching metal hanger. The Snacks 'N' Treats Platform Swing comes in green, as you see above, and red. The dimensions are 12 x 7 x 7 inches, and the bench holds up to 2.5 pounds, so let the crows keep flying by.
Here's a nice cafe for wintering birds, out of the rain or snow, with plenty of food served. Though you can use any type of feed, if you do have bluebirds or blue jays, you'll want to stock up on dried mealworms for the winter, as they provide good protein. Recycled plastic with brass-plated fittings and hanger, the Bluebird Sidewalk Cafe Bird Feeder, has a 16 inch diameter cover to protect its 9.75 x 7 inch base. Top to bottom, the Bluebird Sidewalk Cafe Bird Feeder is 12.5 inches tall overall.
Here's a good ole bluebird grabbing her mealworms:
Corn is a great winter feed for your backyard squirrels. The proper way to feed it is dried. If you haven't dried your corn during the summer, you may have to buy imported corn for your squirrels during the winter, but it's worth it, if you can watch the little guys gnaw on it from their specialized corn chairs. Here is a good recipe for drying corn from Leaf TV.
The Squirrel's Corn On The Cob Chair is made from recycled plastic. Measurements of the chair are 4 x 5.5 inches, plenty of room for a squirrel to sit down right next to the corn. The chair height is 6.375 inches tall and it mounts to any flat surface.
Don't be surprised to find birds pecking at the corn too, so you may want to prepare in advance by purchasing the Squirrel's Corn On The Cob Bench!
The Squirrel's Corn On The Cob Bench measures approximately 8 x 5.5, twice as long as the Chair. It is also 6.375 inches high.
Enjoy one or more of these delightful, sturdy, USA-made bird or squirrel feeders outside your window this Fall and enjoy!
That's the buzz for today!
