Can we get a trim for a few bucks? A trio of deer crashed through the front window of a Brookhaven, Mississippi barber shop before busting back out again.
Brookhaven, a town of roughly 12,500 in southwestern Mississippi, is usually pretty quiet. So quiet, in fact, that citizens entertain themselves by rock-hunting along Cherokee Street.
We kid you not – Brookhaven teacher Jackie Saujon was doing just that along with about 20 other people when all heck broke loose at the Brookhaven Barber Shop.
“I saw something come out the corner of my eye,” explained Saujon. “I turned around and saw the glass shatter and it was deer. And then two more came right behind it and two of them went all the way in then. What they didn't bust going in, they busted coming out.”
Another witness, Angie Cook, confirmed that “One went through the door and the other two slid through this window and they were dancing around trying to get back out.” The intruders caused considerable damage inside the shop including torn furniture, scratched-up floors, and scattered broken glass.
Shop owner Jill Lewis Case was less than pleased to hear about the break-in / break-out when witnesses reached her at home by phone. Case had been renovating the shop, which was due to re-open the next day, and as she neglected to insure against damage she will have to cover the costs herself. Quick, someone set up a GoFundMe page for her!
The trespassing deer, by the way, did not appear to be injured after crashing the clip joint – after escaping back through the front window they made a break for the edge of town. More info, photos and even a short video can be viewed at Jackie Edmonds Saujon's Facebook.
