If you’re a baseball fan living in the D.C. area or you reside near the Capitol Riverfront and are the owner of dogs, Bardo Brewery has good news for you: they’re opening a half acre off-leash dog park mere steps from Nationals Park. Bardo, a dog-friendly establishment in the beer garden style, has quickly gained in popularity due to its laid back outdoor atmosphere and riverfront views — and, of course, the fact that they brew and sell beer.
D.C. Dog Parks
Because the owners of Bardo’s and their customers are fans of dogs and baseball, it made sense to reopen the dog-friendly brewery in its present location. Formerly calling Arlington, VA, home, the new facility sits on 2 acres that will soon be developed to include condominiums, in addition to the dog run. Andrew Stewart, co-owner of Bardo, recently told WTOP, “We’ve always been dog friendly. We figured it would be nice to have an off-leash dog area. It’s about half an acre. We feel it’s the biggest dog park in the city.”
As more and more businesses roll out the welcome mat for dogs, more and more consumers are taking advantage of it. On any given day, given a choice, dog owners will opt to spend their time and money at facilities that will welcome them and their pets. And it’s not just eateries and bars that offer outdoor seating that have joined the trend. TD Bank doesn’t just hand out Milk Bones at its drive-thru windows. Allowing non-service dogs into their branches as a matter of policy, they even go so far as providing water bowls in the lobby.
