Many banks are allowing credit and debit card applicants to submit their own photos and images to be featured on their new cards.
There's a deal-breaker, mind you: the images can't have been previously copyrighted by others. That leaves selfies, your kids' drawings, and... your pets! Surely your BFFF (best furry friend forever) has the photogenic chops to make the scene on a 3 3/8 by 2 1⁄8 inch (85.60 mm × 53.98 mm) slab of plastic, right?
If you don't have a pet, perhaps one of the internet's more notorious animal characters could fill the bill. The trio we're featuring here – Ceiling Cat, Doge, and “So Much Cocaine” Cat – have been making the online rounds for years, and some folks have already achieved success at banks including Wells Fargo (USA), Nordea (Finland), and Sberbank (Russia). That last one is an actual bank, btw, and not a fertility clinic.
So, next time your shaggy companion starts acting up or acting out, whip out the phone and snap some shots. If all goes well you'll soon have retail clerks crowding around, asking where and how you got that card. As for Ceiling Cat, he's watching you mass-debate the store staff.
