Henry, the German Shepherd, Husky, Boxer, Staffordshire Terrier and Aussie Mix has come a long way since his early days of 30,000 followers on Instagram. For owners Cynthia Bennett and Andre Sibilsky, it’s been an epic journey hiking the majestic Colorado Rockies mountains.
Now attracting over a half-million followers, with not quite 500 photos [as of this posting,] Henry has partnered up with a new companion, a four-legged fur-ball named Baloo — who while born into a Siamese litter actually thinks he’s more canine than feline.
In fact, so much so, that in the beginning of their relationship, he thought of Henry, in a very maternal way.
"I truly believe he [Baloo] thinks Henry is his Mom," Bennett said in a BBC interview. "For the first few months he would actually knead him looking to nurse."
Worth a thousand or more . . .
There’s a whole “rescue-related” backstory here, which you can certainly catch up with by reading the BBC article, but for this blogger, the real story pertains to the photos Bennett has been able to orchestrate and capture of this unlikely duo. Her artful chronicle of Henry and Baloo is the number reason why their followers have escalated exponentially on Instagram, in such a short period of time.
It’s that old saw, “a picture is worth a thousand words” that makes you not only want to revel in the adventures of Henry and Baloo, but kind of makes you want to meet them yourself — you know, front row, center — right behind that Rocky Mountain High camera!
While Sibilsky maintains his 9-to-5 finance job [perhaps to build up the ‘travel fund’ kitty [pun intended] for future hiking expeditions,] Bennett has selected to scale back on her previous job in event marketing. She now chooses to focus on her passion for wildlife photography — especially when she can capture her two most favorite domesticated pets . . . up close and personal.
