Even though many people are afraid of getting stung by bees, they are one of the most important creatures on Earth for the survival of humans and our ecosystem. Amateur photographer Briggs Geister has no fear of the insects and gets right in there to capture their beauty with her iPhone.
Briggs is an old friend of mine. I have known her since grade school. I think neither of us really wants to admit how many years that has been. We are forever young at heart.
Briggs was always an amazing artist, no matter what medium she was working with. Her father owned a local art supply store, so artistry was encouraged in her family.
So it came as no surprise to me that, in addition to her music and other artistic endeavors, she has an terrific affinity for photography and makes amazing use of her iPhone while taking daily walks.
At home Briggs is a cat mom who is crazy about her kitties. Don't get into the cats vs. dogs debate with her. She also loves dogs but allergy issues have prevented her from being a dog mom.
When I spoke to Briggs about her bee photos she explained that she loves bee and has no fear. She just "gets right in there" and the bees ignore her.
I can't blame the bees for accepting her so readily. Briggs is one of the nicest, friendliest, and most open people I have ever met. Some of the best times I have had in the past few years is when we get together with "the girls."
Naturally I saved my favorite photos for last. Briggs also loves these photos as well, especially the bees getting covered with pink pollen. I had never even heard of pink pollen. Wow!
Happy Pollinators Week!
