With a lick to the face and a nudge to the hand, Danny the service dog helped his owner regain consciousness after she fell onto the tile floor in her Glendale, Arizona, home. Read on for more about this special canine hero.

Bethe Bennett Takes A Terrible Fall

When this author fell onto the hard floor on a Friday evening some years ago, she was expecting no visitors until the following Tuesday. She broke her femur and lay in excruciating pain until Danny, her trained service Miniature Schnauzer, came to her aid. The dog used to care for her mother and remained as a loving pet when the woman died a few years later. Apparently, he had not forgotten his training as a service animal as evidenced by the following series of events. (See: Buddy The Cat Saves Owner From Heart Attack.)

Danny The Service Dog Comes To The Rescue

Bethe Bennett told ABC News: "I was scared. I really thought I was going to die. I knew I was going into shock because I am a nurse. I started asking Danny to get me the phone. He ran back and forth a couple of times barking, and finally jumped up and knocked the phone over and pushed it with his nose towards me." (See: Donkey Saves Family From Wild Dog Attack.)

And then she realized that the paramedics had no way of getting into her locked house. "Bring me paper!" she said to Danny. Obediently, the dog brought her five sheets, one of which had the phone number of her neighbors written on it. She called  them and they unlocked her home with a hidden spare key just as the paramedics arrived on the scene. (See: Kelsey The Hero Retriever.)

Her recovery was spent with Danny at her side at the Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, Arizona. She has written a book series entitled: The Forever Home, which is all about her foster animals. She plans to write one about Danny. She said: "Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be the one he'd have to rescue. He is my little hero." (See: Half-Breed Wolf Saves Elderly Couple In Snow Storm.)

Good job, Danny!
