PetBloon Balloon Toy
Dogs can get pretty hyper during the holidays. Too many people around, the re-arrangement of furniture, weird smelling they're not allowed to pee on... Your dog may just need some exercise to chill him out... like a new crazy ball with surprises.
Surprise balls are those that do the unexpected. They light up, they have attractive odors, and/or they bounce unpredictably, landing several yards from where they're expected. Here are 5 balls that promise to inspire your dog to play and make him tired enough to bear what and who is coming over to make a lot of noise and sit down in his favorite spots.
1. PetBloon Balloon Toy
PetBloon Balloon Toy
The PetBloon Balloon Toy is one of the most original dog toys I've seen!
Have you seen a dog chase a balloon? Dogs love balloons! True that when the balloons pop, they may freak them out, but that's just momentary.
This gorgeous dog print covers a balloon! It has an 8-inch diameter to cover a good size balloon and even small dogs will love to push it around. (Actually, it is designed for small dogs and others who are not chewers!) The balloon inside will burst eventually, but the cover is a nice and strong waterproof twill material, that will be ready for a balloon replacement! And the cover will also muffle the sound of the balloon popping, so your dog will not be as surprised by the sound.
The PetBloon comes with 3 balloons to get you started. You insert a balloon into the PetBloon before inflating, tie up the end of the balloon, and wrap the hook and loop around the tie. Then, the toy is ready to roll or throw or bounce up in the air to create ultimate excitement for your pup. This is a toy you can use inside or outside, but watch out for your holiday ornaments!
2. Mazee Dog Toy
Mazee Dog Toy
Now I know you've seen treat balls before, but the Mazee Dog Toy is at the top of my most difficult dog puzzle toy list. There is only one hole in the ball, but there is a maze your dog must travail and then the ball itself, before she gets her treats out. This Mazee should keep her busy for awhile if you insert treats she really likes.
Mazee Dog Toy
Highly reviewed, the Mazee Dog Toy is great for small to medium dogs. It has a 5 inch diameter and is made from a Pliable Orbee-Tuff® outer shell. As the shell is clear, it enables your dog to not only smell the treats but to see them as well. If you put a grainy treat in the ball, like these cookies or kibble, your dog can hear them too! But go with a really special treat to keep him busy for a long time.
3. Orbee-Tuff® Strobe Ball
Orbee-Tuff® Strobe Ball
Eco-friendly and safe for babies as well as dogs, the Orbee-Tuff® Strobe Ball will provide hours (about 200) of chasing fun for your dog. The embedded LED light is safely tucked away in this sturdy ball and it lights up in a rainbow of colors when you bounce it hard on a hard surface.
Here, you can see the ball in action....
Another great feature of the Orbee-Tuff® Strobe Ball is that it lights up in the dark!
You can find the Orbee-Tuff® Strobe Ball at In The Company of Dogs in "glow" color and at Amazon in glow and blue.
4. Nite Ize Bounce-Activated GlowStreak LED Dog Ball
Nite Ize Bounce-Activated GlowStreak LED Dog Ball
The Nite Ize is similar to the Orbee-Tuff with a few exceptions:
- One is that it comes in Red as well as white.
- It has an uneven surface that is a bit more challenging for your dog (and good for tooth abrasion).
- It has a removable chamber that holds the battery, so you can change it once it's worn. The chamber twists into the ball, and it is difficult for even humans to remove.
- And one more thing: the light doesn't flicker but you can set it to change colors. The light will stay on for 10 minutes or so after use and then shut off by itself.
