When you think about it, there are few things that dogs don't destroy as they grow. Puppies will chew up just about everything from their toys to their beds. Collars and clothes need to be replaced because they become too small.... So it's comforting to those of us that don't like to waste, that there are stands for dog bowls that you can keep for their whole lives.
A puppy usually gets taller as he ages, so why not get a dog bowl that grows with him? I found some really well-designed dog water and food bowls that 'grow up' with your pups.
Prevent Health Problems:There are health issues related to your dog's feeding from a bowl that is too low for her. They concern your dog's anatomy and the fact that when a dog's head is low to the ground as he's drinking or eating, the water or food has a longer way to travel against gravity. As you see in the image below, the esophagus, which transports food and water from a dog's mouth to her stomach, is quite long in proportion to her entire anatomy....

If your pup has difficulty swallowing or keeping down food or water, it may be because her bowl is too low.You should address this situation before it gets worse!
See the difference a raised bowl makes in this image by Pedy of its elevated dog bowl.
As dogs get older, they may also develop pain upon moving their necks low or too high, so this is another reason to accommodate their most comfortable eating and drinking positions.
Here are some great dog bowls that grow with your dog. They will do their best to keep your dog's alignment correct while he's eating or drinking.
I have to admit to having a slight favorite here. It's the PandPal Adjustable Raised Dog Bowls and the reason is that the designers thought of almost everything! You've got good looks, heights from 4 to 10 inches, solid bamboo frame, a silicone mat cover to protect the wood... and more!
Though the highest setting is a bit short for tall dogs, the PandPal is great for medium-tall dogs.
Let PandPal show you how well this dining set delivers:
Aside from the really precious labradors in the photo above, you're looking at a really well-designed dog diner with big stainless steel bowls for all but the very largest breeds of dogs. In the package comes with one dining platform, two stands, and two bowls. The stands are cleverly designed as rectangles, so that the 8 inch sides can be used for medium-sized dogs and the 12 inch sides can be used for tall dogs!
The stand is plastic and designed with a well around the bowl holds, so that dripped water and dropped food might drop in the well, instead of the floor, but in any case, you should get a nice, food-safe silicone mat to place underneath.
The feeding tray is 20 x 10.6 inches. The bowls hold about 7 cups of dry food and 56 ounces of water.
This measurement diagram should help you discern if the Pet Zone is right for your dog's needs:
The Pet Zone Designer Diner Adjustable Elevated Pet Feeder is available at Amazon.com. The Diner comes in black, blue, and pink. The Pet Zone is a good choice for dogs of all sizes.
Other adjustable dog feeders that accommodate large and very large dogs are the Dexus Popware Adjustable Feeding System, Buddy's Line Multi-Level Adjustable Dog Feeder, Aspen Pet Grow With Me and the Super Design Adjustable Height Dog Bowls, (Number 5, below)
The Pedy Feeding System base is bamboo and stainless steel. If you look on the right side of the back of the stand, you can see how the stand rises from 6.71 to 10.2 inches for the comfort of your pet, by using the four wooden screws to slide up and down the legs of the stand. This is great for small and medium size dogs, but may not go high enough for taller dogs.
As you see below, the feeder table can fold down for convenient storage.
Four stainless steel bowls accompany this dining set; the dimensions of each are 6.69 inches in diameter and 2.75 inches high. The stand accommodates deeper bowls as well.
This Pedy feeder does not have a well for food or water droppings, but the bamboo can be wiped off with a damp cloth. As with most feeders, you'll want to place this on a food-safe mat. Be careful about wiping the wood, as dampness will weaken the wood feeder and rust the screws.
The Messy Mutts Adjustable Height Dog Feeder is cool. You have to visit the Messy Mutts Feeder here to see the lovely combinations of colors it has created for these ultra-modern Adjustable Height Dog Feeders!
The design of these dog feeders is very clever. The frame is sloped inward towards the feeding bowls to prevent spillage. There's a lip around the bowl that catches splashes. And the legs of the bowls are slanted outward to give the feeder maximum balance.
The Messy Mutts' stand is of made of FDA approved, food grade, BPA-free. PVC-free plastics.
Here's what you get with the Messy Mutts Adjustable Height Dog Feeder... enough parts to achieve 3, 5, and 10-inch heights.

The 6.75" in diameter and 2.75" deep food-safe stainless steel bowls fit perfectly into their 'cradles,' and hold up to 5 cups per bowl. These bowls are a good size for small, medium, and not-too-large dogs.
Yes, the name of the manufacturer is Super Design! And this product, Adjustable Height Dog Bowls, certainly looks like a great design. Use this feeder for one or two dogs, setting the bowls at appropriate feeding heights for each dog.
One especially useful aspect of the Super Design is the rubber sleeve that fits under the bowl to help keep it stable. Another great feature is the shape of the bowl holder which helps manage any drops of food or water that may slip from your dog's mouth while eating or drinking.
Here are all the Adjustable Height Dog Bowls' parts:
On this link there are instructions for putting the stand and bowls together.
The melamine and stainless steel stand is nice and broad at the base - 17.75 inches - and the length of the stand from the floor is about 19.5 inches, so it's good for very tall dogs! The base includes anti-slip knobs to help stabilize the stand. You can choose 2.5 cup or 4 cup bowls.
Any of the above adjustable feeding stations would be a good choice for growing dogs. They are functional, practical, and stylish too!
That's the buzz for today!
