Look at the difference between the snout on the left and the snout on the right! (above) I don't want to upset you, but the snout on the left hurts.
Rough dry skin on your pet's nose, skin, and paws can be painful, and so can skin worn raw from scratching and licking. Natural Dog Company makes products that soothe these wounds quickly, effectively, and naturally, without resorting to Vaseline®, which is actually not good for these wounds.
There's a reason Vaseline is called 'petroleum jelly.' It's because it's made from petroleum. Though Vaseline is safe to use on your skin, it's not intended to be licked. Additionally, petroleum jelly acts as a skin barrier and skin needs to breathe in order to heal.
Natural Dog Company has three all natural balms intended for your healing pet's sensitive skin: Organic Snout Soother, Organic Paw Soother, and Organic Skin Soother with ingredients that not only allow these surfaces to heal but protect them from further damage. Additionally, Natural Dog Company produces a Paw Protector that keeps your dog's paws from getting beaten up from ground surfaces, chemicals, and temperatures.
A dog's nose is privy to his most advanced sensory power: smell. His outer skin contributes to that sense, but it can be subject to irritation and drying from contact with certain surfaces, allergens, and even the weather. When this special skin on his nose becomes irritated or sunburned, that skin can become raw and very painful, and your dog will lick or rub his nose, making the irritation worse.
Natural Dog Company has put together 10 organic oils, butters, waxes, vitamins, and extracts to provide natural antioxidants, anti-inflammatories,, sunscreen, moisturizers, esters, fatty acids, and other healing properties for your dog's nose, including: Organic Hempseed Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Grapeseed Oil, Organic Jojoba, Kukui Oil, Candelilla Wax, Natural Vitamin E, Chamomile, and Rosemary Extract.
It won't hurt your dog to lick Snout Soother off her nose, but it's best that she doesn't lick it, or it won't do its job. So when you apply the Snout Soother to her irritated nose with your finger or soft cloth, distract her with a treat, a toy, or something that she likes to divert her attention from her nose. If you can keep her attention for 10 - 15 minutes, that would be good. If she does lick it off, try again. The most important time to apply is before bedtime.
Apply as often as you can, but at least two to three times a day for the first 2-3 days is recommended. As the healing begins, you can reduce Snout Soother applications to once a day or once every other day until it's completely healed.
If your dog's paws are dry, cracked, chapped, burnt, scratched... she's in pain, or at least very uncomfortable. Natural Dog Company's Paw Soother provides 10 natural and organic ingredients (Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Cupuacu Butter, Organic Hempseed Oil, Organic Jojoba Oil, Candelilla Wax, Calendula Extract, Cajeput Essential Oil, Natural Vitamin E, Chamomile, and Rosemary Extract) to soothe and heal those puppies.
As with the Snout Soother, you will want to distract your dog after applications of Paw Soother, so he doesn't lick it off before it has a chance to work. The best time to apply Paw Soother is when your dog is resting and before bed. You can give him treats to distract him from licking, or as Natural Dog recommends, give him some peanut butter (takes a while to lick) and/or give him a rub behind his ears or on his belly.
Pawtection is a product you want to keep on hand all the time so your dog is ready to run or walk on most surfaces without getting sore paws. Paw Soother heals, Pawtection protects. It protects in summer and winter and from the damage that many surfaces - don't forget tar and concrete - can wreak on your pet's paws. Use it before you go hiking, to the beach, go for walks in the snow, over gravel, and don't forget about the salt on icy surfaces - that smarts!
This photo is pretty impressive proof of how Pawtection works: I bet your dog's paws don't look like the smooth paw in the image below! That's the way they were when he was a puppy!
Pawtection is made from: Organic Mango Butter, Organic Rice Bran Oil, Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Carnauba Wax, Sunflower Wax, Candelilla Wax, Natural Vitamin E, Benzoin Resin, Lavender Essential Oil, Ylang Ylang Essential Oil, Rosemary Extract. Natural Dog Company recommends that you open the lid, push up the waxy product, and then run each paw over it before massaging it in a bit.
Dog's have very sensitive skin; maybe that's why most of them are blessed with plenty of fur. Natural Dog Company's Skin Soother is to dog skin as Neosporine is to human skin, except Natural Dog Company's Skin Soother can be licked! It's all natural and organic with Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Safflower Oil, Candelilla Wax, Sea Buckthorn Oil, Lavender, Chamomile, Frankincense, Myrhh, Vetiver, Niaouli, Benzoin, and Natural Vitamin E.
You can use the Skin Soother on any part of your dog's skin that's irritated from scratching or biting. (If your dog has an open wound, she should be medically treated.) It can be used to treat hot spots, bacterial folliculitis, dermatitis, alopecia, dry skin, allergic reactions, insect bites, dry skin, and many more skin conditions. (see product description)
Many canine skin irritations resemble the one below:
You can see that the wound in the top image is very irritated and perhaps a bit scabby and bumpy. In the "After" photo, there's a big improvement! This can be accomplished in a few days, if you can keep your pup from biting or scratching her wounds. An e-collar might be necessary.
The Natural Dog Company Skin Soother comes in a roll-on stick (see above).
Natural Dog Company products are very highly rated by customers. I'm a customer too, so I know they work well. Because each of the Soothers are intended for different uses, I recommend looking into some of the Soother 'combos' listed on this page.
That's the buzz for today!
