Hartz Frisky Frolic Latex Squeakable Dog Toys

Hartz Frisky Frolic Latex Squeakable Dog Toys

My dogs tear up most every toy within a month, but when it comes to latex toys that seem most vulnerable to a dog's sharp canines, the dogs have been more gentle. I think it's because latex toys have uniquely pleasing qualities to a dog.

Latex toys are squishy, and squishy is soothing. If you notice, dogs will carry these toys around in their mouths, often from room to room, out in the yard, or, if you permit it, they'll even take them on their walks, dropping them only to do 'their business.' Dogs will squeeze latex toys while lying down, standing, or walking around, seeming to get real pleasure from their texture and their sounds.

Is this why latex toys are recommended for blind dogs?

Perhaps latex toys are pacifying to dogs. They provide comfort as opposed to a dog's other rambunctious play opportunities. It's a theory, anyway, for why something so easy for a dog to rip apart, takes them a really long time to decide to attack.

In any case, latex toys do offer variety to your dog's assortment of toys, and they are surprisingly highly rated by dog parents. And if you buy really goofy ones, like those I include here, you will both get a big kick out of them: the goofier, the better!

Of course, if you have a chronically destructive dog or puppy, you may want to pass on latex, but many dog parents turn out to be surprised that their dogs don't chew them up - at least not right away. In any case, as with all toys, your dog should be supervised while playing with latex toys.

Latex toys can be easily rinsed with water or with dish soap and water, but let the inside air out so they don't get smelly.

1. Sensory Fish Latex Dog Toy

The Sensory Fish Dog Toy is made from 100% natural latex rubber (latex) from the tree Hevea Brasiliensis. It is hand made and hand painted in Morocco by Lanco, the family that owns this toy-making business. This squeaky toy is 4 x 6 inches and it is suitable for any size dog. You can imagine how appealing this would be to a dog!

Here's another Lanco latex dog toy, replete with curves and soft spikes and bumps and knobby things that dogs can experience with their mouths. And don't forget the squeaks! The Crocodile is about 6 inches long.

3. Chiwava 4PCS Latex Funny Animal Sets

Chiwava latex toys are very highly rated. The little guys above - Chick, Piggy, Bear and Frog - come as a set. They are small, a little more than 2 inches tall, and are intended for small dogs - or small chewers, anyway. One customer reports that they bounce very well, which is a plus.

4. Chiwava 4PCS Latex Funny Face Toys

Your dog will love these funny face latex toys too! They are about 2.8 inches in diameter.

The combo below is a bit larger, also four latex toys, 2 cows and 2 elephants....

5. Chiwava Latex Toys Elephant/Cow Sets

The elephants and cows are about 3.3 inches high - so cute for small to medium dogs.

These dog toys are sold as a trio and, as you can see, they offer plenty of sensory experiences. That is one reason why the Hartz Frisky Frolic Latex Squeakable Dog Toys are so well-reviewed; the other is their toughness. Still, like the other latex toys, they are not recommended for rough chewers or large dogs. My own experience is that not every large dog is a rough chewer, so know your own dog.

The dimensions of these cuties are 3 x 3 x 4 inches. Are these goofy enough?

7. MultiPet Goblets, Pig Latex Dog Toy

Mutlipets is a large pet product manufacturer that makes several latex toys, most of which are stuffed with polyfil - "plush filled." I have no experience with stuffed latex and, although the toys are very well-reviewed, I cannot lend my own opinion. The MultiPet Goblets are sold individually, and in packs of two or three. Colors are chosen randomly by the vendor.

8. MultiPet Goblet and Chicken

You can also purchase a MultiPet Goblet and Chicken as a set, as seen below:

PetSafe Squeeze Meeze toys are not just squeaky, they respond to squeezes with special movements. When your dog squeezes the Racoon (above) for example, its tail rolls out.

Squeeze the Duck (below) and its tail wags back and forth.

11. PetSafe Sportsman Squeeze Meeze Latex Turkey

And, of course, you don't want to miss the PetSafe Sportsman Squeeze Meeze Latex Turkey!

Guess which part of the Turkey unfolds when chewed!

Squeeze Meeze dog toys have great marks for durability under pressure, but it's still advised to keep them away from big dogs and rough chewers. The Squeeze Meeze, like the Multipet latex toys, are stuffed with a soft material. The other entries are hollow.

So there are 11 goofy good quality latex toys, or sets of toys, that will delight your dog. If you haven't tried a latex toy for your dog, it's worth trying one or two to see how he responds to it. Don't forget to watch your dogs while they are playing with these toys. If they get torn, throw them out immediately. Like any toy, you don't want your dog to swallow any part of it!

That's the buzz for today!
