In news of the absurd, a herd of eight donkeys were jailed for four days in Uttar Pradesh, a state in northern India. Shockingly, this was done without a proper arrest and without due process. Chances are they were also never read their rights -- oh, right, that's what happens in the U.S. Of course we don't usually arrest donkeys in the first place.

Israel is finding itself inundated with millions of extra birds. The birds, which usually use Israel as a stopover on the way to Africa, are opting to stay in cooler climes and hanging out in the country. The increasing encroachment of deserts and frequent droughts in Africa have made food for birds scarce. Many types of birds are staying longer in Israel as their migratory patterns change.

A lot of people like to go out shopping for their Black Friday Christmas deals. In Tahoe, California, this is apparently extending to the local bear population. Over Thanksgiving week a number of bears showed up at the mall and around local shops. At the very least they were engaging in some serious window shopping mixed in with some dumpster diving for snacks.

While it’s been around since 2012, Giving Tuesday is just coming into its own this year, due to Bill Gates and Facebook. Started by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, this special day is in  response to all the commercialization and consumerism that emanates from the post-Thanksgiving season [namely Black Friday and Cyber Monday]. As a result, its a growing movement for international giving globally. Giving Tuesday, often promoted as #GivingTuesday for the purposes of hashtag activism is this year celebrated on November 28 . . .
