There's a pair of bald eagles who have just had their third “convocation” in the National Arboretum, hatching two eaglets, “DC4” and “DC5,” this past February. These chicks really need better names, and you are invited to submit them! Even if you're not up to renaming DC4 and DC5, you MUST see them!

Who let the cats out? In this case it was the German supermarket chain Netto Marken-Discount for an amazing advertisement. With the help of American director Brian Lee Hughes and a tiny cat-sized replica of the stores was created. Several familiar internet cats were brought in to star in this fun feline feature. It was apparently an exercise in cat herding.

By now, most folks know about therapy dogs assisting returning vets. There’s even a special day of acknowledgment. The first annual National Therapy Animal Day was introduced by the non-profit ‘Pet Partners’ on May 18, 2015. Of recent date, there are so many comfort dogs taking passenger seats on airplanes that controversy has arisen as to how many of these flying dogs are truly registered and trained comfort dogs?

Beavers are the most amazing creatures. Most people don't realize that these industrious animals are actually rodents. In fact they are the second-largest rodent in the world, right behind the capybara of South America. My brother Bud, who lives in Alberta, Canada, recently sent me this awesome video of a beaver family rebuilding their home near Calgary after a period of Chinook winds had warmed temperatures, which cause ice to melt and collapse, which wiped out their previous home.
